Reading Domain Check Results and Setting Rules: Presets for 301 Redirects, Site Networks and New Brands
A 301 buyer and a new brand need very different domains. What each result column means (first-seen year, stable-title years, Baidu site: results, referring domains, spam score), three rule presets by use, and how to handle questionable and never-archived domains.
A 301 buyer and a new brand need very different domains. What each result column means (first-seen year, stable-title years, Baidu site: results, referring domains, spam score), three rule presets by use, and how to handle questionable and never-archived domains.
The check has a few fixed rule fields; leave them blank and defaults apply. Whether the rules fit your use decides whether the shortlist is usable as is. First what each result column means, then three presets by use.
1. What each column means
| Column | Meaning | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Verdict | Clean / questionable / rejected | The reason column names the rule that decided |
| Since | First year the archive saw the domain | Roughly when the site began; "—" if never archived |
| Stable years | Longest run of years whose homepage titles match the year before (last ten years) | Longer means one site run steadily |
| Baidu site: | Organic results on page one of a Baidu site: search (0–10) | 0 means essentially nothing indexed; 10 means at least a full page |
| Ref. domains | Number of different sites linking in | Better measure of link footprint than total links |
| Spam score | Share of spammy links, scored 0–100 | Lower is better |
2. The rules you can set
- Endings: only these; others are dropped on submission, free.
- First seen no later than: the archive’s first year must be this or earlier.
- Same title for at least N years: the site must have been run steadily.
- Never archived: keep checking / mark questionable / reject.
- Baidu site: at least N results on page one.
- Referring domains at least, spam score below (defaults 10 and 30).
3. Three presets
| Use | Endings | First seen by | Stable years | Never archived | Baidu site: | Ref. domains / spam |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 301 redirect | com / net | 2015 | ≥ 3 | Reject | ≥ 3 | ≥ 30 / < 20 |
| Site network | com / net / org | Any | 0 | Questionable | ≥ 1 | ≥ 10 / < 30 |
| New brand (just clean) | As the brand needs | Any | 0 | Keep checking | 0 | ≥ 0 / < 30 |
Save rules as presets (up to 50 per account) and apply one with a click. Each check keeps a snapshot of its rules, so editing a preset later does not change finished results.
4. Questionable and never-archived domains
Questionable is deliberately left to you: the word has innocent uses (Macau, lottery, escort and the like). Open the row: the flagged year is in red with the text the word was found in, and the year links to that archived page. It takes seconds to decide.
A never-archived domain either never had a site or was never captured (or blocked the archive). For 301s, reject it: there is no history to inherit. For a clean name for a new site, let it through: at least it has no visible bad past.
Index, referring-domain and spam figures come from third-party data and will differ from other tools; the archive does not cover every year. Use them to rule out the obvious misses quickly, and review expensive domains yourself before buying.
