Aged domains are valuable because they can carry index, links and age. They are risky because they can also carry a past as a casino, adult or pharma spam site. A few minutes of checks before you buy avoids most of the traps. This is the five-step list we use, and the order matters: the first steps are free and rule out most domains; the later ones cost money and should only run on domains that passed.

Step 1: Read the homepage title for every year

Open the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org) and look at one homepage snapshot per year. You do not need every page: the title, meta description and H1 are enough. A tech blog run for five years keeps the same name; a domain that was sold and turned into a casino suddenly reads "XX Casino" one year.

  • Same title for years: usually one owner running one site. Ideal.
  • Topic changes often: possibly flipped several times or used in a network; look closer.
  • A year of foreign-language keyword stuffing (Japanese "スーパーコピー", Indonesian "slot gacor"): likely hacked or used for spam.

Step 2: Look for banned and borderline content

Search those titles and descriptions for porn, gambling, drug and pharma-spam terms. There are two kinds. Words like "baccarat", "casino" or "viagra" have almost no innocent use: walk away. Words like "Macau", "lottery" or "escort" do (Macau travel, a state lottery, the Ford Escort): open the snapshot and judge for yourself.

The latest snapshot is not enough

Many domains show a harmless parking page this year and a casino three or four years ago. Always read the full timeline, not just the last capture.

Step 3: First-seen year and title stability

The first archived year approximates when the site started; the longest run of years with the same title shows how long it was run steadily. For 301 redirects or inheriting authority, buyers usually want an early start (2015 or before) and three or more stable years. If you only want a clean aged name for a new site, both can be relaxed.

Step 4: Baidu index (for Chinese-market sites)

Search site:domain on Baidu and count the organic results on page one. None means the domain has essentially nothing left in Baidu; a full page means pages are still indexed. It is a coarse signal: a big index can also be a pile of spam pages.

Step 5: Referring domains and spam score

Count referring domains (how many different sites link in), not total backlinks: one site with ten thousand links is one referring domain. Then check the spam score: a high one means many links come from link farms and forum blasts. Too few referring domains (say under 10) or a high spam score (say 30 or more) leaves little worth inheriting.

The bulk version

One domain is fine by hand; picking from a drop list means hundreds at a time. CallAI’s Domain Check runs these steps as a fixed pipeline: paste domains, set rules if you want, confirm the price and start. Each domain stops at the first step it fails, so later paid steps never run for it. It is $0.02 per domain wherever it stops, and failed checks are free. Results are grouped as clean / questionable / rejected with a one-line reason, and each row opens to the yearly titles with archive links.
