SEO MCP Server custom API setup
Connect the CallAI SEO MCP server: install the @callaiapi/seo plugin in DeepSeek Harness (dsh), or add the URL and your API key to any Streamable HTTP MCP client such as Claude Code or Cursor. Your agent can then query live Google/Bing results with AI Overview sources, keyword volume and difficulty, competitor keyword gaps, backlinks and on-page audits. Data from DataForSEO, billed per call from $1, no subscription.
Step-by-step setup
Create an API key and top up
Sign in, create a key under API Keys and add any amount (from $1). Each tool call is billed at the DataForSEO cost and every result states what it cost.
DeepSeek Harness: install the plugin
Install it into your profile and restart dsh, or find @callaiapi/seo in the plugin shop. The plugin also ships a callai-seo skill that teaches the agent keyword research, competitor gaps and backlink checks.
dsh plugin --profile web add @callaiapi/seo
DeepSeek Harness: add your key
Pick one: put it in ~/.dsh/.env (profiles with the credentials service, such as web); set apiKey for callai-seo in the profile's cordis.patch.yml; or export CALLAI_API_KEY when starting dsh (works in every profile). Full guide in the README of github.com/hanshengcc/callai-seo-mcp.
# ~/.dsh/.env
CALLAI_API_KEY=sk-live-your-callai-key
# or ~/.dsh/profiles/web/cordis.patch.yml
- id: callai-seo
config:
apiKey: sk-live-your-callai-keyClaude Code: one command
Other clients with remote MCP support work the same way: URL https://api.callaiapi.com/mcp plus the Authorization header.
claude mcp add --transport http callai https://api.callaiapi.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer sk-live-your-callai-key"
Cursor: add to mcp.json
Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project (or ~/.cursor/mcp.json) and restart Cursor.
